SJVO BOARD MEETING
January 6, 2011 I. In Attendance Sister Annunciata, Michelle Morgan, Lisa Brown, Katherine Heller, Mandi Love, Karen Corey, Julie Handura, Bridget Sullivan, Jen Stoll, Christine Scott II. Old Business a) BOOK FAIR: We were $125.00 short of our minimum sales to benefit from the book fair this year. The total we made will roll over and combine with next year’s sales, which will see a larger profit for us then. With the new price equipment we were unable to know our running total. In future years we will hand tally as we sell to avoid this problem. Other dates were explored to better showcase the book sale. Once the school calendar is made for 2011-12 we will pick a date that might coordinate with more parental visits to the school. b) APRONS: Michelle Morgan is working on getting the aprons now that the holidays are done. c) MOVIE NIGHT: “Despicable Me” will be the movie for this year’s movie night on January 21st. We will roll out the floor protectors this year to protect the floor allowing for more chairs set up for adults if they would like. Pizza, chips, candy, Capri and water will be served. Sheets will be sent home to each family that needs to be sent back to indicate how many are attending so we can make our pizza order. d) SECRET SANTA STORE: A thank you to Joanne Sliger and all the volunteer parents who helped at the Santa store. We made $700. e) MARDI GRAS: Tickets are now on sale. $30.00 single/$55.00 couple. This is a great fundraiser for our school featuring silent and live auctions, raffles, and Treasure chests. Delicious appetizers, dinner, desserts and dancing. Please attend or sell some tickets to others. f) ROLLER SKATING: Lisa Brown is checking with the owner to see if we can have an Augustinian night at the rink or if we would just pick a night to all meet there for some fun together in March. g) SOUP LABELS: We currently have 23,547 labels saved for our school. The catalogs were given to the teachers to review. Labels can be turned in for useful and fun equipment for the whole school. III. New Business a) BOX TOPS: This year’s Box Top totals rose and we received $1000 from that program. Please continue to send them into school. Each month there is a tally to see which grade brings in the most and they will be granted a jeans day. b) FORT DRUM THRIFT SHOP GRANT: Bridget Sullivan brought to Sister’s attention an available grant from the Fort Drum Thrift Shop on post right before Christmas break. We were able to get the grant information in on time and received $700.00 to be used for science equipment for our school. This grant can be applied for yearly. $3000.00 in grant money was distributed this year to various schools from this shop. We are looking into our 7th and 8th grade students having the opportunity to help at the store sorting. This would be a great way for them to help their community and say thank you for the much appreciated grant. A Thank you to Bridget and all that helped make this grant possible. c) SCRIP CARDS: Target and American Girl gift cards have been added. Please check online or with the rectory for the complete list of cards available. Please also remember that Lands End cards can be used not just for the catalog, but Sears and Kmart also.
