Welcome back to school for the new school year and welcome to the new families that have joined the Augustinian Academy family this year. The Saint Joseph Volunteer Organization (SJVO) is Augustinian’s Parent/Family Volunteer Organization. We are excited about the upcoming school year and all of the great things the SJVO has planned. Parent involvement is extremely important to the success of our school year. We help build involvement in the school and help facilitate activities, ongoing programs and fundraisers such as Family Fun Night, Movie Night, Uniform Closet and the Walk-a-Thon. Our work supports and strengthens Augustinian Academy by providing opportunities for parents to work with the school by implementing programs, events, and fundraisers for the benefit of all Augustinian students. We meet once a month and all parents are welcome to attend. We also have several committees that plan our various events throughout the year.
Family Involvement provides opportunities for parents to work together to build a strong community spirit at Augustinian Academy. Each family is asked to volunteer a minimum of 10 hours for the school year and 3 hours for the St. James Fair.
Please find the volunteer questionnaire in this packet. You can use this form to indicate which events you would be interested in helping with and return it to the school office when completed. You will then be contacted by the Volunteer Coordinator or event coordinator when planning for that event begins. Occasionally last minute volunteer needs are listed in the school’s weekly newsletter or through room mothers. We also use Sign-up Genius which is an on-line way to sign up for events. There are many opportunities to volunteer from home, in the evenings, or with younger children. If you have any questions regarding volunteering, please contact the Volunteer Coordinator at SJVO@augustinianacademy.org.
Please go to the VIRTUS website to sign up for their next training date. This diocesan sponsored abuse prevention and awareness training is mandatory for volunteers who work with our students. For more information please visit www.virtus.org.
We look forward to working with all of the wonderful Augustinian parents this year.
