Dear Parents,

Many thanks to all who have volunteered in the areas listed on our SJVO forms
.  We are still in need of someone to help as custodian on a rare day when none of our custodians are able to be here.  This has happened once or twice in the past five years but it is great to have someone available to help fill in when we need help.  Anyone who volunteers receives 1 FISH hour automatically for being willing to be "on call."

Father Maroun will be visiting our classes today.

Congratulations to Katie LaGrange who is second grade's Student of the Week.  Katie is a wonderful addition to the class.  Everyday Katie comes to school with a big smile and happy, bright eyes.  She is kind to everyone and her generous spirit makes second grade a better place to live and learn.

SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS ARE DUE THIS WEEK.  IF YOU WISH TO APPLY FOR FINANCIAL AID PLEASE BE SURE YOUR APPLICATION IS IN OUR OFFICE .

There is still time to register for the VIRTUS Training session that will be held at St. James Community  Room on Saturday, September 24 from 9:30 a.m. to noon.   You may do so on-line at www.virtus.org under "training."  (We are in the Diocese of Ogdensburg.) Those who work with young people from our parish are asked to attend one of these sessions.  Saturday's will be in Carthage for your convenience but sessions are scheduled at various sites throughout the year.

Last week you received information regarding school pictures. Individual student pictures are scheduled for Tuesday, September 20.  Students may wear their uniforms or dress-up clothes for individual photos. Class pictures will be taken on Wednesday, September 21.  For Wednesday's class pictures, students are asked to wear uniforms.  Girls are asked to wear uniform jumpers or skirts.  Boys are asked to wear slacks and polo shirts.

Augustinian's Magazine Drive is underway.  Please encourage students to do their best to sell two subscriptions each.  The sale ends on October 3.  Since there is no school that day (Diocesan Superintendent's Day) money is due at school on October 4.

We ask you to also do your best to help us sell chances for our Super Raffle which ends in December.  Many thanks to Mr. Iseneker who is helping us to coordinate efforts on this major fund raiser.

Last week we heard from Maura Bledsoe, the daughter of Mike Young who was a basketball coach at Augustinian for 20 years and who served as custodian for 3 years after retiring from his job as a public school teacher.  Maura will be running in the New York City Marathon this fall in her father's memory.  Any parent who wishes to support her efforts in memory of this wonderful man may do so by making a donation on her fundraiser page: http://www.active.com/TeamlBDKids 2011/mbledsoe.

Every Wednesday Augustinian alumna, Jane Astafan has a class in Pilates from 4:30 p.m.  to 5:30 p.m.  and one in Zumba from 5:45 p.m.  to 6:45 p.m.  Profits from the classes go to Augustinian.  Any parent or person in high school or older is welcome to join.

Sunday, September 25 is Father Maroun's Birthday.  We will celebrate with him on Friday, September 23.

LUNCH ON TUESDAY,  SEPTEMBER 27 IS: FRENCH TOAST, SAUSAGE PATTY AND HASH BROWNS.

Reminder:  There is no school on October 3-Superintendent's Day or October 10-Columbus Day Observance.

In Christ,
