Dear Parents,

In this week which commemorates 9-11 we pray for those who died or were injured on that September day or in defending our nation following it, for those who lost loved ones and for healing and a new awareness of God's presence and peace in our hearts and in our world.

It was good to see so many of you at our Meet the Parents meeting.  I'm glad to have had an opportunity to see so many of you and I'm sure your children's teachers were, too.  Thanks to our SJVO for organizing the volunteer sign-up.  If anyone missed it please contact Bridget Sullivan or the office.

One area which was not included in the sign-up but for which we could use help is the project of computerizing our library holdings.  If you would like to help enter book information into a computer program, please call the office and tell Elaine or Christine.  In a week or two if we have some volunteers, Mrs. Carney will schedule a meeting to show you what you need to do.

Wednesday is the final day to send in cards, gifts or donations for Mrs. Donna Weber who has resigned her position as our office aide due to the ravages of chemotherapy.  If you wish to send something to her, please drop it off at the office or have your child drop it off.  Thanks to all those who have already sent in items.

Applications for the Diocesan Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) are due this week from those who wish to apply for a scholarship.  If you wish to apply for the scholarship please return your application by Wednesday of this week.  Income must be verified with a copy of your pay stub, your LES or your 1040; the committee does not even consider unverified documents.  We want as many of  our families as possible to receive a scholarship so please get applications in and be sure they are verified.

Our annual Magazine Drive begins on Tuesday, September 13.  Booklets explaining the program will be sent home at the end of the day.  This is a long standing autumn fund raiser.

Last week Ann Johnson from Ohio became the September Early Bird Winner of $500 in our Super Raffle.  So far most of the raffle tickets have been bought by parishioners or alumni of the school.  We would be very grateful if you share information about the raffle with your friends and family to help us increase our sales.

On Friday, September 9, our new MFLC, Ruth Fogarty visited the school.  Ruth will be here on Mondays.  With this letter you will receive a letter explaining the MFLC program and a permission slip.  Please circle the option of your choice and return the form to school this week.  We are privileged to have this program in our school.

Registrations for our upcoming VIRTUS program have been very few.  Please sign up soon (if possible by Monday, September 19) to allow time for materials to be run off and compiled.  You may register on line at www.VIRTUS.org under “training”.

School pictures will be taken on Tuesday, September 20.  Both individual photos and class photos will be taken.

Our 2011-2012 school calendars and a bright pink sheet with additional dates were distributed last week.  If for any reason you did not get one please contact the school office (493-1301) and we will send one to you.  Please note there are two free days coming up soon:

October   3- No School- Diocesan Superintendent's Day

October 10- No School- Columbus Day Observance

This week our school family becomes complete with the addition of Mrs. Anna Steele and her Pre-K classes.  What a joy to have them with us!

Blessings to each of you,
