It is a pleasure to welcome you to our web site and to our school, which is a center for FAITH, FAMILY, and FORMATION for approximately 150 students and over 90 families.
Augustinian Academy was founded in 1885 as St. James School and in 1895 became the first school in the diocese of Ogdensburg and the third school in New York State to receive a charter from the New York State Board of Regents.
Carthage Augustinian Academy is a Catholic school founded in the tradition of the Sisters of St. Joseph. Today we have an outstanding lay faculty and staff and we still have two Sisters of St. Joseph: Sr. Annunciata Collins, school principal and Sr. Noel Chabanel Hentz, librarian and computer/technology teacher. The faculty and staff are dedicated to providing an excellent, wholistic education for each child based on gospel values and on New York State Standards.
A real commitment to Catholic education and a loyalty to the school are so evident in Augustinian Academy and St. James Parish. Family names that span generations are present in the school today along with a very welcome and active presence of military families from nearby Fort Drum. The school children are not only well-educated in academic subjects but formed lovingly and carefully in their Catholic faith and values.
Again, WELCOME TO AUGUSTINIAN ACADEMY. Enjoy your tour through our cyber space. We hope that one day we will meet you and welcome you to our school family.
Sr. Annunciata Collins, Principal
